Blue light & digital eye strain

Published drjohnmusumeciadmin on August 28 2019

Lately, there has been a trend towards the marketing of blue-blocking lenses to treat eye strain from digital screen use. The FACT is that blue light being emitted from screens is very low compared with the amount of blue light we get from the sun. So, we need not be too worried about computers or phones ‘frying’ our retina.

Some practical tips include taking regular breaks when using screen-based devices, consider using app-based filters to dim screens and lower blue light at night, along with avoiding screen use for an hour before bed are very helpful.

However, if you continue with suffering from digital eye strain, you should have a comprehensive eye examination to rule out focusing problems, binocular vision issues, dry eye or visual stress syndrome.
